What is Mediation?
Family Law Mediation provides an effective alternative to court proceedings for resolving family law disputes, including parenting and/or financial matters. As qualified family lawyers acting as neutral facilitators, we guide parties through structured confidential discussions to reach practical agreements. Unlike court proceedings, where a judge makes decisions for you, our mediation service keeps you in control of the outcome while benefiting from professional legal guidance. The process is entirely confidential, often faster, more cost effective and less adversarial than litigation. Our highly trained mediators will help identify issues and explore options with both parties, but cannot impose a solution.

Tash Nolan – Director
Tash brings 16 years of legal experience and holds a Master’s in Applied Law (Family Law). Recognised by Doyle’s Guide for her expertise, Tash has handled all facets of relationship breakdowns from modest property settlements to complex matters involving multiple assets, family companies, and trust structures as well as complex parenting matters.
Her diverse background across commercial law and litigation provides unique insight during mediation. Tash’s commercial experience enables her to quickly identify core issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutions. She is a strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution, believing efficient negotiation should be explored before litigation.
Jessica Swain – Special Counsel
Jessica has 10 years of experience in family law, developing expertise in complex property matters, high-net worth cases, and matters involving corporate and trust structures. Her reputation as an outcomes-focused solicitor stems from her efficient, hardworking approach.
With a Psychology degree, Jessica understands the emotional impact of family disputes and uses this insight to help clients navigate complex situations.

Our offices provide dedicated meeting rooms specifically equipped for mediation sessions, ensuring a professional and comfortable environment

Alternatively, mediation can take place via a video conference
Duration
Half-day sessions:
4 hours (typically sufficient for most matters)
Full-day sessions:
10am - 5pm (for complex disputes)
Catering
Light refreshments and catering are provided during full-day sessions to maintain focus and comfort
Legal Representation
Parties may have their lawyers present, though this is not required. Independent legal advice is recommended before attending mediation
Fees
Half-Day Mediation: $3,000 (incl GST)
Pre-mediation conferences
(30 minutes on the day prior to mediation)
Up to 4 hours mediation
Full-Day Mediation: $5,500 (incl GST)

When Mediation
is Appropriate?
Mediation works effectively when:
- Both parties are willing to participate in good faith
- There are no safety concerns or power imbalances
- Parties can communicate reasonably with professional assistance
Mediation may not be suitable where:
- Family violence or abuse is present
- One party cannot participate meaningfully
- Urgent court intervention is required
